Graffiti Street, Ghent, Belgium
Date Visited: April 16, 2017
Time Spent: 30 Minutes
Tucked away among the medieval streets of Ghent lies on of the most colourful streets you'll ever walk through.
Most people visit this small Belgian city to see the famous Ghent altarpiece. But why not round out the fine art experience with some street art?! This free outdoor gallery is always changing due to the constant addition of works by artists. It's not just your ordinary spray painting either. These works are beautifully designed, and sometimes there are even larger installations!
The alley is filled with colour, and some absolutely stunning pieces. Of course, like all areas of street art, there's some ugly tagging left by wannabees and Youths (no good Youths), but don't let that distract you!
You'll immediately feel 10x cooler once you enter the street. Not only because there's less tourism traffic here, but because you're now considered 'hip' just by appreciating urban art. You kids will finally be able to accept your friend request on Facebook, and your hipster friends will finally accept you.
Do you feel cooler already?
If you really look, you'll notice that Ghent barely has any other sort of heavy vandalism, which makes one wonder if all cities should have dedicated areas for street art like these #SmartiePantsGhent
let that
